Bulls EARN respect. Not even my words!

The article below was posted by an independant journalist although I have it on good authority that he is actually a WP supporter.

But I agree with him. Looking at the facts how could you not.

Humans to "split in two"; very interesting

without comments

Evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry of the London School of Economics has some astonishing thoughts regarding the future, that is the evolutionary future, of mankind.

Nobody can say for certain that he is right or wrong, but I must say that I can definitely see reason behind his thinking. From an evolutionary point of view things can change very randomly, but if our self created environments stay as they are now I can easily see his predictions coming true. Some of what he is saying is already happening. Race being ‘ironed out’ for instance.

If I had to give my two cents, I think there is one reason why his prediction might not come true. I don’t think man will carry on as we are. I believe the human population is out-of-control and inevitably we are going to start wiping each other out. Be that through more (but truly global) wars, global famine or disease I couldn’t say.

Dubya: Defender of Freedom. NOT!

without comments

The founding fathers of the United States were truly great men. They had an understanding of personal liberty & justice that was so ahead of its time that it was not even fully understood in “Old World” Europe.

These founding fathers saw in the religious and ethnic persecusion in Europe and slavery how badly things can go wrong if these principles are forgotten. They wanted the US to learn from the mistakes of Europe and not to repeat them. To achieve this they wrote a constitution that protected one’s freedoms. This constitution was, to my mind, one of the most important documents in the free world, never mind the US.

Today though these founding fathers must be turning in their graves after His Thickness George Bush is again undermining liberty & justice by signing a law legalising secret CIA prisons, harsh interrogation practices and military trials as weapons against suspected terrorists.

In so doing he is obviously also undermining the constitution. But hey he was elected two terms in a row, so the American public daren’t complain when these short sighted laws come back in 20 years or so to bite them in the ass!

Boesmans skemer

Boesmans skemer

I think this clarifies our decision to return to South-Africa.

Daar is min dinge wat so mooi is soos ‘n mooi dag in Boesmansriviermond.

Dit is een van die verskeie redes hoekom ons besluit het terug te keer na Boesmans om The Red Apple oop te maak.

Hier is nog Boesmansriviermond fotos.

Elke Heunis is one week old!

with 5 comments

Elke HeunisElke was a week old yesterday. It is unreal how time has flown since she was born on the 27th of September. Her birth was an emotional roller coaster to say the least. I tend to get very focussed and quite grim during times of stress, so it was only a day or so afterwards that I could think about the “miracle” of life. But it still doesn’t feel like Elke is our own!

As promised, her are some photos (better than the ones that sent from the hospital).

Lene was an absolute star. I have to doff my cap to her for her courage and bravery.

Sofar Elke is perfectly healthy, but man alive she can scream!! Lene is doing sterling work with her, but it is tiring for her. Elke’s worst times of the day is between 12 and 5 in the morning.

Lene is also recovering well from the birth.

Thanks to everyone for all the support and messages.
